Republic Design Award-Material Choices

For one of my other projects I have to design a 4 collection outfit for the travelling student. The outfit needs to be both practical and fashionable. Going on these characteristics I decided that my overall outfit needed to take up minimal space in a rucksack, easily dried, the material needed to help make the wearer feel cool and also needed to be attractive. I decided to research into different materials which actually helped to cool the body down when perspiring. I came across a material made by COOLMAX, this material is made out of polyester fibres which pull moisture away from the skin to the outer layer of fabric helping it to dry faster. This process is called evaporative cooling and a great fabric to wear in hot conditions. I have ordered several samples from a website called rockywoods.com which is an outdoor fabric shop based in America which specialises in these types of fabrics. Please see image above to see how the fabric works.
